An Introductin to ILC EDMS
Find answers to the questions “What is ILC EDMS?” and “What are the objectives and benefits of using an EDMS?”, and get an overview of the core functionality

Document Management
Login to EDMS for the first time, and get to know the different ways of finding and retrieving documents: Searching, navigation, classification, team folders, bookmarks and saved searches. Examine the different types of items and relations that are supported by an EDMS, e.g. documents, parts, packages (baselines), references, dependencies and system breakdown structures. Practice uploading, relating and classifying documents and go through the basics of version control by checking items out and in

Lifecycles (aka Workflows)
Learn the basics about lifecycles and item states, and use the self-release, review and approve lifecycles for reviewing and releasing documents. Learn how to add reviewer comments to documents with Acrobat Professional. Then, learn to use lifecycles on depending documents, on baselines and on CAD parts and drawings, and publish items for direct web access

Change Management
Understand the essentials of change management and its implementation in ILC EDMS. Create, review and approve engineering change requests, issue change orders, and revise items under change control. Practice change management on a collection of related and depending items.

Web-Publishing with EDMSdirect
Build a web page for a work group which links to EDMS documents and packages of documents, and which contains a (restricted) EDMS search

Representing System Components with 3D CAD: An Introduction
Learn the essential concepts of 3D CAD modeling and how they are linked to EDMS: Understand parts, assemblies and the bill of materials, and get a brief demonstration of the 3D CAD system “I-deas” and its EDMS interface “Teambrowser”

Exploring 3D CAD Models
Learn how to explore 3D CAD models by using the EDMS. Create snapshots and presentation graphics, and include animated 3D CAD models in your slides.

Building Project Documentation
Hear about general considerations and good practices for organizing a document repository, and learn about good practices for organizing engineering documentation. Particular emphasis is put on the co-existence of CAD data and further project documentation, such as e.g. specifications, contracts and of course meeting minutes.

Training Sessions
Hands-on training sessions for becoming an EDMS consultant. First, work with a set of legacy documents and organize them into a document repostoriy. Then, start working with system structures and engineering data by migrating one of the existing ILC wiki web sites to ILC EDMS. Finally, practice working as an ILC EDMS supporter: Enjoy and try to solve some selected requests which reached the EDMS hotline

ILC EDMS on Your Laptop
Prepare your laptop according to the prerequisites for using ILC EDMS and its helper applications

System Administration
Get an introduction to the ILC EDMS access control mechanisms. Learn how to create user accounts and how to apply access control.
